Medical camp for barbers held

General body meeting of the Manipur Barbers' Association cum Urban Health Mission RCH camp for barbers was held today at Major Khul community hall.
he event was organised jointly by Manipur Barbers' Association and District Health Mission Society (Imphal West) .
Speaking on the sideline of the meeting cum medical camp, adviser of Manipur Barbers' Association, Ahongsangbam Premkumar said there are around 275 non-local barbers in the State.
The Association issues identity card to the non-local barbers after duly verifying their antecedents and their temporary residences, he said.
No one is allowed to open barber shop or salon without the consent or approval of the Association, he added.

CMO (Imphal West), Sarungbam Bimolakumari said that the medical camp was organised to check the health status of the barbers and to spread awareness regarding health hazards related to their profession which demands utilisation of instruments like knife, blades etc.
The medical camp was also aimed at identifying professional practices linked with infection transmission, the CMO said.
The meeting was also attended among others by Dy Labour Commissioner E Tomba Singh and Saikhom Ingomcha Singh, Branch Head, Abhipra Capital Limited, Imphal.
