DSSS organises training programme for Semka FPC

Ukhrul, August 28 2022: Diocesan Social Service Society (DSSS) with the support of Department of Agriculture, Manipur, today organised a 1-day training on "Plant Protection and On-Farm Bio Inputs preparation" for Semka Farmers Producer Company (FPC) Ltd under Mission Organic Value Chain Development For North Eastern Region (MOVCDNER) Phase-III at TTA hall, Hamleikhong, Ukhrul.

Speaking on the occasion, Solomon Yamro, District Coordinator of Ukhrul & Kamjong stated that the training was conducted for farmers registered in Semka FPC Ltd.

He informed that 500 farmers are registered as "Farmers Interested Group" from the villages of Tashar, Shirui, Choithar, Langdang and Khamasom while adding that the farmers are taking up black rice/ chakhao cultivation in wet agricultural land for large scale production.

Resourcer person of the programme, Lungsem Luiram, Assistant Technology Manager, ATMA stressed on the need to adopt systematic cultivation methods.

Elaborating on the technique to prepare bio organic fertilizer, Lungsem Luiram appealed to the farmers to refrain from using chemical substances in their farm.
