UNC states stand on land of Nagas

The Presidential Council of the UNC held at Town Hall, Mao Gate on August 27 has decided that no land in Naga areas would be allowed to be used for development projects or exploitation of natural resources by Government agencies or companies without the free, prior and informed consent of the land owners, the respective tribe council and the United Naga Council.
Forcible encroachment upon traditional territory through physical intrusion, transfer of land to other administrative units and attempts to barter away land while carrying out the Indo-Burma boundary fencing will be opposed without compromise, said a statement issued by the UNC.

Besides Adani and Kamei, the other members of the delegation include chairman of the committee on AA and former UNC president Paul Leo, vice chairman Ashinpou Gangmei , presidents of the All Naga Students' Association, Manipur (Ansam) and Chandel Naga People's Organization (CNPO).
The fifth round of tripartite talks was held at Senapati district headquarters on February 12 this year.
Denouncing the Centre's failure to hold the 6th tripartite talk, the UNC, besides imposing a 48-hour general strike in Manipur's 'Naga areas' which ended on August 13, had also put a ban on the works of Central sponsored projects.
