Nungei/Lilong incident: JAC formed, justice demanded

Imphal, June 28 2016:
A JAC has been constituted in connection with death of Md Arif Khan (15) during a violent confrontation between two neighbouring villages at Lilong Nungei, Thoubal district and has demanded punishment of all those involved in killing the boy.
The JAC was constituted at a public meeting held this morning at Lilong Dam where the killing of Arif Khan was condemned in the strongest term.
Alleging that the boy was killed in firing by 2nd IRB personnel and some civilians, the meeting resolved that all those persons involved in the killing should be awarded befitting punishment within 24 hours.
The JAC has also demanded a judicial inquiry into the incident.
The gathering further resolved that State security forces being deployed at Nungei should be replaced by Central security forces.
To remove the fence put up across Lilong-Leishangthem road for easy movement of security forces was another resolution of the meeting.
The meeting resolved not to claim the corpse of Arif Khan until all the other resolutions are fulfilled by the Government.
