Fresher's meet of United College Lambung ,Chandel celebrated

The 33rd fresher's social meet of United College Lambung ,Chandel was organized by Students' Union of the college at its multipurpose hall today with MLA of 41-Chandel A/C St Nunghlung Victor as Chief Guest.
Special Contractor Hl Lovingson and College Principal BD Thumdal were respectively Functional President and Guest of Honour of the function which was also attended by Teaching and non teaching staffs, students of the college, chiefs of the surrounding villages and leaders of various student organizations.
Speaking on the occasuion, Lovingson recalled the hard works put in by various local leaders including Ex- Education Minister late HT Thungam, Social Worker late L Benjamin and EX-MP & MLA BD Behring towards making United College, Lambung into a full-fledged degree college.
While encouraging the students to be sincere and dedicated in their studies, he also announced to sponsor an annual meritorious award carrying a cash reward of Rs 1 lakh in memory of his late son Hl Lianjoy, who was once a student of the College.
Speaking as Chief Guest of the function, MLA Nunghlung Victor called upon the students to cultivate discipline, courtesy and politeness and said that these are keys to success in life.
Dwelling on lack of basic infrastructure and the problem of frequent transfer of lecturers of the College, the MLA informed the gathering that the Education Minister, the Commissioner concerned and the Chief Minister are quite aware of these problems and the Govt is keen to resolve all these problems and develop the College.
The MLA also condemned the recent incident of burning down the administrative building of Maha Union Government Higher Secondary School, thus leading to loss of many important documents of the students.
Guest of Hounour of the function BD Thumdal appreciated the efforts of the local MLA and the Government of Manipur for taking keen interest in infrastructural development of the College.
He also pointed out that the recently installed biometric system for attendance has ensured regularity and punctuality of the teaching and non teaching staffs.
While informing that United College, Lambung is a NACC accredited B grade College, BD Thumdal, however, expressed regret over the transfer policy adopted by the government that makes the College to lose 29 lecturers despite having more than 900 students.
He also appreciated the collective efforts made by all concerned towards making the College to attain its present status.
Showcasing of dances and songs, introduction of the freshers and selection of the King and the Queen of United College Lambung, Chandel 2013 marked the fresher's meet.
