Medical directorate urges

State Medical Directorate has reiterated its demand for restructuring, cadre expansion and amendment of the Manipur Health Services Rule, 1982 .
In a representation to the Principal Secretary (H&FW), Govt of Manipur, the Director of Health Services has said that the expansion of the strength of the MHS Grade-III and MHS Grade-IV cadres have been done adequately while the cadre strength of the MHS Grade-I and MHS Grade-II remains too scarce to meet the increasing demand for greater man-power in the higher level specially among the clinical specialists and public health specialists that manage the hospitals and various national public health prevention programme.
Moreover, Rule 5 of the MHS Rule, 1982 provides for revision of the cadre strength for every five year.
It also pointed out that the cadre expansion in the MHS Special grade, grade-I and Grade-II which entails for restructuring and amending the service rules is a rightful and long pending demand of the doctors.
The MPSC had also concurred a proposal for restructuring the MHS into various sub-cadres in order to streamline the service carriers of the doctors.
Saying that additional financial implication is expected to be minimal in executing the exercise as mentioned, the representation urged the Administrative dept to initiate process for repealing the existing Manipur Health Service Rules, 1982 and replacement by a more accommodating and viable MHSR, 2013 at the earliest.
