Sit-in protest, rally held in different parts of Bishnupur

Bishnupur, October 26 2019: In support of the ongoing campaign spearheaded by Co-ordinating Committee on Manipur Integrity (COCOMI) which was formed as a preemptive measures to the Naga peace talk as the Naga peace talk, which is expected to draw to a conclusion by October end, may infringe upon Manipur's integrity, Moirang Kendra Apunba Meira Paibi Ima Lup (MAMPIL) in association with Kege Moirang Kendra Apunba Lup (KEMKAL) have organized a sit-in protest at Moirang market raising slogans that the final solution of the ongoing Indo-Naga peace talk should not be based on communal line.

The women folks also formed human chain and shouted many slogans.

Women vendors of Moirang market, shopkeepers and members of MSF Bishnupur District took part in the protest using placards which read as "Bring peace not pieces", "Bring solution not problem", "No compromise on the territorial integrity of Manipur", "We strongly oppose India's Divide & Rule Policy", "No community based final solution" etc.

Later, the protestors took their protests to the road and formed human chain.

Meanwhile, extending support to COCOMI's agitation, Thinungei Apunba Nupi Lup and various CSOs of the area come together to organize a sit-in protest raising slogans that the peace talk between NSCN-IM and GoI cannot compromise the integrity of Manipur.

Placard which read as "Peace talk for peaceful solution", "Integrity of Manipur cannot be compromised", etc were used during the sit-in protest.

On the other hand, meira/ torch rallies were carried out in different parts of Bishnupur District yesterday night raising slogans that the interest of Manipur cannot be compromised by the final solution of Indo-Naga peace talk.

Torch rally were also jointly organized by Lumlangdong Apunba Nupi Lup, Lumlangdong Ima Keithel Development Committee, ANUL Bishnupur and AMKIL from Bishnupur market and headed towards Old Mini Secretariat, Bishnupur.

It then returned to Bishnupur market only to move towards Thongjaorok and after passing in different parts of Thongjaorok, the rally headed back towards Bishnupur market.

Elsa Club Naranseina and Naranseina Apunba Meira Paibi Lup under the banner of COCOMI also took out torch rally from Naranseina bazar and headed towards Thamnapokpi passing through Tiddim road and culminated at Naranseina.

Youth Development Organization Moirang also organized torch rally in support of Co-ordinating Committee on Manipur Integrity (COCOMI) call from Moirang Kenjengbam Leikai and moved towards Moirang Lamkhai and returned to Moirang Konjengbam Leikai after passing through Moirang market and Moirang Thangjing Mamang.
