A three -member official team led by a senior technical officer from the Central Government will arrive at Imphal on August 27 to conduct field assessment of damages caused by recent floods in the State.
A reliable source said that the team would make an assessment of the damages caused by the recent floods and other natural calamities in Chandel and Thoubal districts.
Many bridges have been washed away while large areas of paddy fields were badly affected by the floods.
Besides, landslides cut off many link roads and telecommunication service broke down at many places.
Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Kiren Rijiju during his recent visit suggested to the State Government to urge for a Central inter-ministerial team to assess the extent of damages caused by the floods.
It may be mentioned here that a delegate of BJP Manipur Pradesh led by State president Th Chaoba had earlier requested the Union Minister of Surface Road and Transport Highways Nitin Gadkari to intervene in the rehabilitation and reconstruction of the damaged Chapikarong Bridge and other main affected areas in Chandel and Thoubal district, said the source.
