Imphal, April 24 2019: Members of JAC formed in connection with the brutal murder of Khujamayum Arun and irate locals of Bamon Kampu Makha Leikai, tried to attack the wife of the deceased and Pradhan of Bamon Kampu GP while they were being produced before the Court for police remand in connection with the murder of Arun.

From early morning, a large number of angry locals and JAC members began gathering at Lamphel Court after getting information that the two accused would be produced before the Court.

Heavy security arrangements were made by the police taking the situation into consideration.

Finally, the two accused Khujamayum Helen alias Thoi (26) w/o (L) Kh Arun (the victim) and Naosekpam Rabi (45) s/o (L) Nimai of Bamon Kampu Khabam, were produced before the Court of the Chief Judicial Magistrate Imphal East under tight security but the angry locals tried to attack them.

They even tried to storm the Court room but security personnel foiled the attempt by closing down the main entrance door of the Court room.

During the hearing of the case, the IO, through the APP submitted that N Rabi was arrested by Irilbung PS in connection with the case while Helen was arrested from Bamon Kampu, after a case was filed by the father of the deceased yesterday, claiming that the previous day (April 22) his son left the house at around 10 pm and did not return.

He further claimed that the following day, his son was found dead, with his neck slashed and lying at Landhrei Loukol Bamon Kampu and expressed suspicion that his son might have been killed by Pradhan N Rabi.

The IO further submitted that the Pradhan was found at Irilbung PS along with his Maruti Alto and on brief examination, he claimed that he is innocent and that he has no knowledge about the incident.

The Pradhan also claimed that he turned up at the police station due to threats by the father of the deceased as he was in the company of the deceased person the night before Arun was found dead.

On the other hand, Helen alias Thoi was also arrested and during preliminary interrogation, she stated that she had been in a relationship with N Rabi for some years.

She further stated that Rabi is also the father of her new born child and her deceased husband came to know about the secret relationship before she gave birth to her 2nd child.

As a result, Arun and Rabi frequently quarrelled and fought and Arun often scolded her and also spread words about their secret relationship to everyone whenever he got drunk.

The IO continued that Helen further stated that she went back to her parental house many times and most recently, on April 19, after quarrelling with her husband she left their home and stayed at her maternal uncle's house.

During her stay there, Rabi visited her.

However, her whereabouts was not informed to her husband and her parents, she revealed.

The IO submitted that under the present circumstances, it is most likely that Helen most probably may have been involved with her lover N Rabi in a conspiracy to kill her husband.

The IO then informed that during further course of investigation, some blood stains on the Alto car belonging to Rabi was found.

With the help of the forensic science laboratory team, blood stains were discovered from the body of the vehicle behind the right front tyre, from the left side front bonnet and from the outer handle of the left front door.

The IO continued that the blood stains collected from the car have been sent to FSL Pangei and prayed for eleven days police custody remand of the two individuals.

The Court heard the submission of the IO and went through the case records before remanding the accused persons to police custody till May 4 .

Later, after the hearing, large number of angry locals and JAC members tried to block the road and attack the accused persons which led to a major scuffle.

However, the accused were whisked away by the police in a bullet proof vehicle before the situation got worse.
