Held on charge of funding insurgents...Five remanded to NIA custody

The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has taken custody of five persons, including a Myanmar National accused of funding insurgents for three more days.
The five arrested for allegedly raising funds for different underground outfits are identified as Deepak Sharma @ Khinmaung (38), S/o Sibalal Sharma of Sandaguu Block 5 Tamu Sagaing Division, Myanmar; Suraj Jaiswal (33) S/o Arjun Jaiswal of Ward No 3 Morning Bazar Moreh; Santosh Gupta (44) S/o (L) Bansari Lal of Ward No 3 Morning Bazar; Sonar Nepolean Bahadur (39) S/o Kali Bahadur of Moreh Khunou Leikai Ward No 9 and Saikhom Bruce (38) S/o (L) Saikhom Yaishkul of Moreh Khunou Leikai Ward No 9 .
They were produced before a Special Court of the NIA yesterday.
Notably, the NIA had arrested the five and residences of Suraj Jaiswal, Santosh Gupta, Sonar Nepolean Bahadur and Saikhom Bruce were searched on January 13 .
During the searches conducted, the NIA had seized 9 mobile phones, 2 cash counting machines, cash amounting to Rs 29.75 lakh and bank related documents.
Earlier, the NIA Court had remanded them to 10 day custody.
While the counsel of one of the accused persons filed a bail plea, the NIA Court yesterday, on perusal of the case records, remanded the five accused persons to the custody of the NIA for three more days till January 25 .
