State Cong leaders set date with Rahul

State Congress leaders would hold a meeting with the party 's Central leaders at New Delhi on June 25 with a request to let Dr Bimol Akoijam and Alfred K Arthur raise the issue of Manipur violence in the first session of the 18th Lok Sabha which will begin tomorrow.
The State Congress team will have all its five MLAs including former Minister Chief Minister O Ibobi and Congress Working Committee (CWC) member Gaikhangam and they will have an audience with Opposition leader Rahul Gandhi, AICC chairperson Sonia Gandhi and AICC president Malikarjun Kharge on Tuesday evening (June 25) .
It is said that the Congress leaders will request the Central leaders to allocate more time to Dr Bimol Akoijam and Alfred K Arthur who got elected from Inner and Outer Parliamentary seats respectively on Congress tickets to speak while discussing the issue concerning Manipur in the Lok Sabha session.
Sugnu AC MLA cum Deputy CLP leader K Ranjit and chief whip of CLP Th Lokeshwar (Khundrakpam AC MLA) have flown to Delhi in an Indigo flight in advance today while O Ibobi, MPCC president K Meghachandra, Gaikhangam and Khangabok AC MLA Surjakumar will join them at the National capital tomorrow.
During the meeting on June 25, the State Congress team will inform the party leaders in detail about what has been happening in Manipur since May 3, 2023 due to the alleged mishandling of the sensitive issue by the BJP-led Government apart from requesting them (the party leaders at New Delhi) to put forward the case of Manipur in the Parliament session appropriately.
Speaking to the media, MPCC president K Meghachandra said that they will make sure its two MPs speak in the Lok Sabha to deliver the assurances given to the people ahead of the recent Parliamentary election.
The previous MPs didn't speak anything about Manipur violence and it was taken very seriously by the people, he said and added that they will try their level best for Dr Bimol and Alfred K Arthur to raise the issue of Manipur in the Lok Sabha session.
