TKLI, TPOI, ITSL demand justice

The Tangkhul Katamnao Long, Imphal (TKLI), the Tangkhul People's Organisation, Imphal (TPOI) and the Imphal Tangkhul Shanao Long (ITSL) have submitted an ultimatum to the Chief Minister today demanding arrest of all the people involved in the lynching of KS Wungathing (42) of Shokvao village, Ukhrul district at Lilasing Khongnangkhong on May 17, payment of Rs 10 lakh ex-gratia and a Government job to the next of kin of late KS Wungathing.
The three organisations said that they would launch different modes of agitation if their demands are not fulfilled within 10 days.
KS Wungathing was a cultivator by profession who never indulged in narcotics or intoxicants.
A mob, who are still unidentified, lynched him on the allegation that he was committing theft.
However, the mob and the residents could not provide any evidence of their allegation and his pocket money (Rs 24,000) was found missing.
This gory incident has left every tribal people of Manipur shocked and aghast.
"Tribal people are becoming more and more insecure even in the high security zones of Imphal where police and residents stay on as mere spectators while innocent lives are being imperilled by perverse and intolerant attitude of mobs and gangsters", said the ultimatum.
