Imphal West DC checks prices of goods on sale

Imphal, September 22 2011:
An official team led by Deputy Commissioner of Imphal West district K Radhakumar today conducted surprise visits in shops of Khwairamband Bazar area to find out whether the prices of essential commodities being sold have been hiked or not.
Accompanied by District Supply Officer of Imphal West and his staff as well as representatives of Consumers' Club, Deputy Commissioner Radhakumar checked the prices of rice, pulses, potatoes, etc being sold in the shops of Paona Bazar and Thangal Bazar.
Apart from collecting data on the variation of the prices before and after economic blockade, the Deputy Commissioner also instructed the shopkeepers to display the rate as well as the stock position of the goods being sold in their respective shops.
Meanwhile, FCI has reportedly communicated to the State Government for distribution of the content in 59 loaded trucks which have remained stranded in different parts of Senapati following imposition of economic blockade along Imphal-Dimapur Road in Senapati district itself.
Many loaded trucks of FCI have been stranded at Mao, Maram, Lairou, Kangpokpi, Khuzuma and Dimapur since August 4 on account of the economic blockade.
