Incentives mooted for Govt teachers

Imphal, June 22 2011: To encourage schools under the School Education Department of the State, the Government has decided to add incentives to the salary of the teachers of Government schools which produce toppers/meritorious students in the Class X and XII examinations.

Disclosing this to The Sangai Express, a top official of the Department said that the Government has taken up this step after taking serious note of the poor performance of Government schools in class X and XII examinations, wherein some of the schools even recorded nil.

The proposal for adding incentives to the salary of the Government school teachers which produce toppers/meritorious students has been discussed at the level of the Chief Minister along with the participation of the Education Minister.

A final decision in this regard, however, would be taken by the State Cabinet, the source added.
