State BJP chief targets over 40 seats

Setting a target of over 40 seats for BJP in the next State Assembly election which is due in 2022, BJP Manipur Pradesh president S Tikendra has called upon all BJP workers and supporters to work collectively so as to achieve the target.
Addressing a district-level political conference held at Senapati today, S Tikendra said that elections to Imphal Municipal Corporation, Municipal Councils, Nagar Panchayats and Panchayats have been lined up sequentially.
Saying that the State Assembly election would be held soon after these elections, the BJP president appealed to all BJP workers and supporters to work collectively with a firm determination that BJP must emerge victorious in all these elections.
Talking about the election to Autonomous District Councils which is likely to be held in the next couple of months, Tikendra claimed that he has so far received over 500 applications seeking BJP tickets for the ADC election through which 144 Members would be elected.
"At the same time, many prospective candidates who are determined to contest the next State Assembly election on BJP tickets have been coming to me with separate lists of their own supporters", said the BJP Manipur Pradesh president.
BJP National spokesperson Sambit Patra talked about the development programmes being taken up by the Government in the hill areas of the State.
He also appealed to the masses to cooperate with the Government and the party.
