SHDDC President and General Secretary resign

SHDDC President Ngamkhohao Haokip and General Secretary Tonghen Kipgen have tendered their resignations from their respective posts on moral ground, stated a press release of the SHDDC signed by the two.
In the statement, SHDDC stated that unprecedented record of public movement took place for more than three months demanding a full fledged Sadar Hills district endorsing the 40 years old demand of the people of Sadar Hills, "All sections of the Sadar Hills people were consulted until the last moment that culminated in the signing of MoU in which the state government assured to inaugurate Sadar Hills as a full-fledged Autonomous District at the earliest after the submission of CRA & PDB report" it stated.
In spite of the large scale participation of all section of Sadar Hills people and civil organisations, districthood could not be achieved as expected, it added.
It also regretted that the movement for a full-fledged Sadar Hills district caused many untold miseries and sufferings to not only the people of Sadar Hills but also to all the people of the state.
