L Kaikum Kom, president of KUM said this today at a press conference held at the office of KUM at Pureiromba Khongnangkhong in Imphal and alleged that it was unfortunate that the statement of L Rekhupsong Kom, chief of Ichum Keirap Kom village was carried by many media house as his statement was far from the truth and had painted Kom community as a weakling.
He added that KUM will always stand for the Kom community and added that the recent issue in Ichum Keirap Kom village was an internal conflict between villagers and no other community should get involved in the matter.
M Chungkhao Kom (Haopu Kom), former vice-president of KUM said following a message that was sent in the Whatsapp group of the village on February 21, some issue had happened in Ichum Keirap Kom village, but it had been resolved by KUM in collaboration with Kuki Inpi as per customary law on July 10 and the parties involved had also reconciled.
However, village chief L Rekhupsong Kom had organised a meeting in the name of a religious gathering and the issue had resurfaced again, M Chungkhao Kom alleged.
