Arrest decried

Imphal, November 20 2011:
Local people of Konjeng Ningthoujam Leikai today staged a protest demonstration against arrest of a former rebel by security forces today.
Khangembam Ingo (38) s/o Kh Tomba of Konjeng Ningthoujam Leikai was pulled up from his home by security forces who came in one white Gypsy and a Maruti car at about 10.30 pm of November 17 .
According to family members, Ingo was once a member of PREPAK but he left the party and retired to civilian life in 1990 .
When Ingo was taken away by security forces, he was wearing only a loin cloth (khudei).

However, some newspapers published today reported that Ingo was apprehended by troops of 22nd Grenadiers from New Changpol area of Chandel district along with one 9 mm pistol, three live rounds and one Kg of explosives.
The family members rejected the report as sheer distortion of facts.Meira Paibis of Konjeng Leikai who participated in the protest demonstration demanded immediate and unconditional release of Khangenbam Ingo.
The protesters put up placards which read as "We condemn arrest of innocent Ingo under false charges", "Release Ingo immediately without any condition", "Don't violate human rights" etc.
