Bpr police arrest accused in hit and run case; JAC calls off proposed bandh

Imphal, April 20 2022: Bishnupur police arrested one person involved in an alleged hit and run case along with his car.

The person has been identified as L Rakesh from Ngaikhong Khullen.

Reportedly, Rakesh fled after hitting one scooter by a red Suzuki Sx4 at Bishnupur Keithel.

It may be mentioned that one person identified as Gaihenlung Kamei (38) from Majuron near Loktak Project was killed in the road accident that took place in the intervening night of April 18 and 19 .

Denouncing the hit and run case, the JAC cautioned to launch a bandh on National Highway 37 until justice is delivered.

Meanwhile, the Joint Action Committee on Brutal Killing/Hit and Run Case of (L) Kamei Gaihenlung has called off the proposed indefinite bandh against the hit and run case which claimed the life of (L) Kamei Gaihenlung.

In a statement, the JAC shared that the vehicle involved in the mishap has been apprehended.

The JAC also expressed their appreciation to Manipur Police Department IGP, DIGR-III, SP, Addl SP (Ops), Bishnupur Apunba Lup (ANUL), RNCM president and their teams for their hard work and cooperation.
