Tension brews at Gwaltabi

A tense situation has gripped Gwaltabi, located at the border of Imphal East and Ukhrul districts.
Two youngsters from a neighbouring village came to Gwaltabi in inebriated conditiona to buy pan (betel leaves and nuts) this evening, informed a source.
As they misbehaved, the two were rounded up by local people of Gwaltabi.
However, one of the two pulled out a gun.
This enraged the local people and they thrashed the duo.
The second person was also found to be armed with a dagger.
But later, the gun turned out to be a toy gun.
The incident resulted in a tense stand-off between the two neighbouring villages.
However, the situation has been brought under control after police intervened in time.
Altogether three persons including the two youngsters who came to buy pan have been pulled up by Lamlai police.
