Imphal, January 20 2020: After taking cognizance of a case against terminated cop Ningombam Ibomcha in connection with the death of one RK Sanajaoba of Sagolband Bijoy Govinda on October 20, 2004, the Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM) Imphal West has committed the case before the Session Court of Imphal West for necessary trial.

Ningombam Ibomcha s/o (L) Pishak of Bashikhong Kongba Irong, then posted at Patsoi PS as a Constable (No.803005) had been on the run from the law after he was released on bail in connection with the same case by then Session Court Manipur East in 2005 .

During the said period, the charge sheet of the case was submitted before the CJM Imphal West on May 23, 2006 by the IO of the case and Ibomcha was announced a proclaimed offender with the Home Department even announcing a case reward of Rs 50,000 for his arrest.

On January 4 this year, N Ibomcha was arrested by a team of Imphal West district commando, led by Amarjit Lamabam Additional SP (Operation) Imphal West, from near Bashikhong Panthoibi High School ground and he has since been lodged inside Manipur Central Jail, Sajiwa.

Today, he was produced before CJM Imphal West and after taking cognizance, the Court committed the case fornecessary proceeding before Session Court, Imphal West.

The Court also directed the accused to be produced for the necessary hearing on March 2 .

It may be mentioned that the case began against the terminated cop after a written complaint was lodged by the uncle of the victim alleging that on October 20, 2004, at around 11 pm, RK Sanajaoba was returning home on his Activa when he was stopped by some police personnel, at Wahengbam Leikai near Khongnang Hogaibi.

As per the complaint, RK Sanajaoba was thrashed by a lady officer (on probation DSP ) and then OC of Patsoi PS, without giving any reason.

While the victim was being manhandled by the police personnel, N Ibomcha allegedly shot him on his chest at point blank range thus killing Sanajaoba on the spot.
