Imphal, August 19 2015:
Various women organisations inclu-ding Apunba Manipur Kanba Ima Lup (AMKIL), All Manipur Women Social Reformation and Development Samaj, All Manipur Tammi-Chingmi Apunba Nupi Lup and Ireipak Inat Chanura Loina-sillon and others have vehe- mently condemned the dis-ruption of a pro-ILPS rally yesterday at Moreh.
Addressing a joint press meet today at AMKIL office, president of AMKIL Ph Sakhi said the disruption of a pro-ILPS rally at Moreh was a testimony of some people's opposition against the ILPS movement.
The women bodies also strongly denounced the act of vandalising shops, offices and houses.
They said that they would keep a close watch on the organisation involved in the act.
Sakhi urged all concerned not to disturb the peace and tranquillity of the border town which is inhabited by different ethnic communities.
She further urged all concerned not to make any attempt to derail the ILPS movement.
She urged the State Govt to take necessary measures to avert such incidents in future.
Secretary of Nupi Samaj, Th Ramani said the present upheaval could have been avoided had the Govt responded positively to the movement against foreigners in 1980.The State and its populace would vanish gradually in the sea of migrants if the present Govt continues to ignore the movement.
As such, the issue should be taken to its logical conclusion.
The women organisations urged all concerned not to oppose the ILPS movement as it is for all indigenous communities of the State.
The Manipur People's Party (MPP) has condemned the disruption of a pro-ILPS rally at Moreh yesterday by another group.
In a statement, the MPP categorically asked how such unwarranted incident took place at the border town where security forces are deployed in large number.
It also asked if some vested groups have been scheming to derail the mass movement or deliberately attempting to sow discord among the people.
Asserting that the ongoing mass movement for implementation of ILPS is for protection of all indigenous people of the State, the MPP urged all concerned not to adopt any anti-people stance.
The party also shared solidarity to the people whose properties were damaged in yesterday's incident.
Meanwhile, expressing regret over the unwarranted incident yesterday at Moreh, the Komrem Union, Manipur (KRUM) appealed to both the parties to forgive and forget with the spirit of brotherhood.
In a statement, KRUM president Serto Lalkhomang Kom said that the ILP movement is not for a particular community and appealed to every community of the State not to react negatively against the movement.
People should instead make positive suggestions so that the common and desired goal is achieved.
The union further appealed to agitators to maintain patience and restrain from doing anything which can adversely affect the movement.
KRUM also condemned the assault on media persons by the police.
Union of Social Upliftment, apex body of Imphal East organisations, has strongly condemned the disruption of a pro-ILPS rally yesterday at Moreh.
The union, in a statement, appealed to all concerned to remain guarded against any ploy or agenda to derail the ongoing mass ILPS movement.
