Mock drills conducted in Noney, Kakching districts

As part of the country-wide exercise, a Civil Defence Mock Drill- Operation Abhyaas were conducted in Noney and Kakching districts on Monday.
The mock drills demonstrated different measures one has to take during air raids scenario such as camouflaging of vital installations, fire fighting, carrying out search and rescue operations, evacuation of casualties and setting up of a temporary hospital to treat the injured.
It may be mentioned that civil defence mock drills/ black out and security drills were being carried out as per the directive of the Directorate of Relief and Disaster Management to educate the public on emergency preparedness on any war-like situation and improving inter-agency coordination during emergencies.

In Noney district, the mock drill held at Tengkonjang Higher Secondary School ground was conducted jointly by Noney district administration, 19 Assam Rifles, 86 Bn CRPF, district police, students of the host School in the presence of Noney SP Namsadai Peter Pamei, ADC Stiff Khapu-dang, chief medical officer Dr Azin Maringmei, ZEO Zavier Longmei, MSPDCL deputy general manager Kapuipii Paul, medical staffers and district level officers (DLOs) of various lines department.
Captain Dr Gaurav Garg of 19 AR supervised the mock drill in which personnel of 19 AR, 86 Bn CRPF and district police demonstrated various emergency measures to the students and teachers.
Similarly, Kakching district administration in collaboration with the district police, 28 Sector AR, Indian Red Cross Society (IRCS) and government departments successfully conducted Operation Abhyaas at the DC's Office Complex.
The mock drill was conducted in the presence of deputy commissioner Rohit Anand, SP Priyadarshini Laishram, additional district magistrate P Shantikumar, SDO Kherdananda Potsangbam, Waikhong SDO U Chai-tanya, Kakching additional SP (Ops) Binoy Chongtham and DLOs.
Approximately 60 volunteers from the IRCS Kakching branch, 40 students of the Grace Cottage Academy, Kakching (Junior Red Cross), Martin Grammar School, Kakching (Junior Red Cross), Kha Manipur College, Kakching (Youth Red Cross), 34 NCC cadets and ex-cadets, 20 NSS volunteers from Kha Manipur College along with four instructors, and 29 NCC cadets from Grace Cottage Academy took part in the drill.
