Imphal, January 19 2022: Imphal West district commando and Bishnupur commando have intensified cordon and search operations in their respective districts as a part of their preventive security measures ahead of Republic Day celebration and upcoming State Assembly election.

A team of Imphal West commando under the command of M Amit, Additional SP Operation, carried out a cordon and search operation at Singjamei Mayengbam Leikai, Oinam Thingel, Khongnang Pheidekpi area under Singjamei Police Station from 6 am today.

During this operation, more than 90 houses were thoroughly checked, more than 170 persons verified and 4 persons were handed over to Singjamei Police Station for proper verification.

Further, another team of Imphal West commandos under the command of Inspector P Achouba, OC Imphal West commando carried out a surprise cordon and search operation along Masjid Road stretch covering Kakhulong and Paona Bazar from 3:30 pm.

During the operation, 105 persons were verified and no one was picked up by the team.

Bishnupur district commando under the command of M Roni Additional SP Operation also carried out a house to house search operation at Bishnupur Ward No 9 where more than 90 houses were thoroughly checked.

No one was picked up during the search operation.

The same team of Bishnupur commandos carried out another house to house search operation at Moirang Khoiru Leikai, Ward No 10 .

During the operation, around 120 households were properly verified and no one was detained.
