Marathon hunger striker Irom Chanu Sharmila has urged the groups concerned not to threaten media persons, who are rendering tireless service to the people of the State.
Condemning frequent bomb blasts occurring in the State, especially the explosion triggered recently at Nagamapal that killed nine non-local workers, Sharmila also appealed to the group concerned not to repeat such senseless killings in future.

The anti-AFSPA campaigner appeared before the Court of Judicial Magistrate 1st Class, Imphal East Manipur at Lamphel Court complex today.
During a brief interaction with the reporters, Sharmila urged all concerned not to disturb the smooth functioning of the media houses and not to threaten media persons who are tireless rendering service to the people of the State.
Regarding proposed idea of erecting her statue, Sharmila said that it is too early to give such an honour to her.
Although, it is a welcome idea, it is the time to concentrate collectively only on repeal of AFSPA.
She also pointed out that statues are generally erected after the demise of the concerned persons.
