Imphal, July 18 2024:
Students of Dhanamanjuri University continued their relay hunger strike demanding appointment of academic and non-teaching staff even as their stir entered the ninth day today.
Speaking by the sideline of their protest demonstration, Takhelmayum Dijen, general secretary of DM University Students Union rued that even though DMU was upgraded to the status of a university six years ago, it still does not have adequate functioning staff.
The students contended that the relay hunger strike will continue until authorities issue appointment letters for DMU VC, Registrar and other non-teaching staff.
It is worth noting here that DMU with over 75 years of legacy has approximately 10,000 students through its five constituent colleges: DM College of Science, DM College of Arts, DM College of Commerce, GP Women's College and LMS Law College.
