Imphal, January 18 2022:
The Manipuri Students Federation (MSF) has started its inspection drive from today on how the students from Class I to VIII of Government schools are being taught since the physical classes have been suspended due to COVID-19 pandemic by visiting the residences of the students.
MSF in a press statement informed that the initiative has been taken up as a part of 'Eikhoi Lairik Ningthina Tamsi' campaign.
For the starting day, a team of MSF Head Office led by its General Secretary visited the residences of the students of Wakching Khullen Jr High School (Govindagram) and checked on their educational status.
During the visit, it was found that the students were unaware about on-line classes and didn't have any idea about giving exams since most of the students do not own smartphones owing to their poor economic background.
Expressing concern over the absence of proper mechanisms like providing home assignments, questionnaire, booklets etc, the student body questioned the Government on what basis will the students be promoted to the higher class.
The members of the student body also distributed notebooks, pens, pencils, erasers etc to the students to encourage them and to revive the tendency of learning which has been dampened by the suspension of off-line classes for a long time.
Lastly the student body sought the attention of the Education Department to look into the matter and take up required measures and give strict instructions to the Government schools to ensure that the new academic session will be carried on in a fair manner.
