World Hospice and Palliative Care Day observed at Thoubal

Under the initiative of National Health Mission, National Programme of Palliative Care (NPPC) in association with District Health Society (DHS) Thoubal observed World Hospice and Palliative Care Day, 2024 at Chief Medical Office Complex, Thoubal Wangmataba today.
The programme held under the theme "Ten Years' Since The Resolution: How are we doing?" was attended by Chief Medical officer, Thoubal and DHS, District Mission Director, Dr Y Nokul as chief guest, NPPC, DHS Thoubal, District Nodal officer, Dr Thuingaren Sareo as president and NP-NCD Thoubal, District Nodal officer, Dr M Bikramjit and DHS Thoubal, Program Manager, Ch.
Basanta as guests of honour.
Addressing the gathering, District Program Manager, Ch Basanta stated that Hospice and Palliative Care Day is observed every year after a resolution passed by the World Health Organisation.
He continued that this year's celebration was observed on the objective of spreading awareness to the people on Palliative care and to address people on its vision and accomplishment under the National Programme for Palliative Care.
Dr Y Nokul in his speech urged the people to care and support elderly people with love and affection by listening and supporting them.
He further appealed to the medical fraternity to join hands and work together to accomplish the objectives of NPCC.
As part of the event, blankets were distributed to patients who are receiving palliative care.
