Denizens of Sinakeithel protest killing of youth, sets 48 hours ultimatum

The villagers of Sinakeithei, Ukhrul staged a mass sit in protest yesterday against the killing of two youths and set 48 hours ultimatum to the State government to arrest the persons involved in the incident.
The deceased persons have been identified as Thotreichan Kashung & Naosomi Lungleng of Sinakeithei village.
They have been missing since August 4 and were recovered in a highly decomposed state at the site of Ihang river on August 8.Seeing the suspicious nature of the death, their bodies were rushed to Imphal on the same day for post mortem to ascertain the actual cause of death.
The victim's family is yet to receive the post mortem report.
A joint public meeting was held with Tangkhul CSOs (TNL, TKS, TSL, TNZL, TNWL, TMNL and neighbouring area villages headmen) and unanimously adopted a resolution and reaffirmed the stand of Sinakeithei village.
They demand for immediate arrest of the persons involved in killing of village youths, and set 48 hours ultimatum to state government to arrest the culprits, failing which the death bodies will not be claimed and will further resort a series of agitation and any untoward incident, the State government will held responsibility.
The visiting Tangkhul CSOs leaders extended their solidarity to the bereaved and further assured the.
Sinakeithei village to support in the movement for demanding justice.
According to villagers, Thotreishang is survived by a six month pregnant wife while Naosomi was the bread earner of the family.
Meanwhile Sinakeithei village youth leader K Wungnganing Zimik has alleged that it was a murder not a natural death.
He mentioned that the dead bodies bore a broken skull, broken teeth, and their eyes were pierced with sharp weapons, further mentioning they have strong suspicion in delaying tactics of post mortem report.
A public procession was held after the public meeting shouting the slogan " We want justice" and later converged at Ihang river site, where dead bodies were recovered on 8th of Aug.
Later, the TNL President Hopingson A' Shimray performed traditional rituals for the departed souls and to ensure justice to the victim families without delay.
Meanwhile Sagolmang Area Naga Students' Association (SANSA) issued a separate press statement appealing the state government for investigation at earliest and booked the culprit involved in the incident, delivering justice to the bereaved families.
