UCM congrats Mary, appeals for indiscriminate felicitation

Imphal, August 17, 2012: With already five times world championship titles under her belt MC Mary Kom possessing yet another Bronze Medal despite many odds in the London Olympics 2012, United Committee Manipur (UCM) has expressed its profound happiness and appreciated her courage.

However, it asserted that along with Mary Kom, the other four state Olympians namely Laishram Devendro, Ngangbam Soniya, Laishram Bombayla and K Kothajit should also be appreciated.

In a press statement, Secretary IPR of UCM Ng Deba Meetei appealed the state government to felicitate the hockey player K Kothajit similar to other players without discrimination.

The authority of Manipur University shall recognize MC Mary Kom as Excellent Personality and offer her with Honourary Cousia (Ph D).

The YAS Department is also appealed to provide all the possible facilities to Mary Kom's Boxing Academy to meet the World Standard in order to shape-up more good players.

UCM expressed dissatisfaction over the government as the Games Village Road is yet to be officially declared as MC Mary Kom Road.

Late Padmashree MK Binodini, first announced it with people's approval at the felicitation function of MC Mary held along with UCM and various CSOs at BOAT when Mary grabbed the second world championship title.

Does it not suit to declare a Games Village Road with the name of a famous sports personality, or is there any reservation as the CSOs had already announced it?, UCM questioned.
