Foundation for St Joseph College laid in Ukhrul

For the people in Ukhrul district, the blessing programme of the building foundation laying of the St.
Joseph College on Friday can be seen as a landmark in education and a reason to rejoice.
On Friday afternoon, Parliamentary Secretary (TD, Hills & IT) Victor Keishing had formally graced the function as the chief guest at Alungtang, Ukhrul.
The programme was attended by dignitaries including Manipur Archbishop Revd.
Lumon, Archbishop Emeritus Joseph Mitathani, deputy commissioners of Ukhrul and Tamenglong, Brigadier AK Pandey among others.
''In the history of Tangkhuls, this occasion is the most important day.
The long cherished dream has come into a reality,'' announced the chief guest.
Victor appealed to the people to extend ''full support'' towards the setting up of the college.
He also assured all posible help towards the institution in whatever way he can from the State government.
In his address Archbishop Emeritus Mitathani also said that people has supported in realising this project and therefore should be proud that it is coming to a reality today.
The other dignitaries also spoke on the occasion which was attended by school students, Christian community and well wishers.
The programme also witnessed a colourful shows of cultural items including folk songs and folk dances.
