Imphal, July 15 2019:
Governor of Nagaland and Manipur, PB Acharya held an interactive meeting with various student unions and members of various organisations of Manipur at Manipur Bhavan, Sardar Patel Marg, Chanakyapuri yesterday.
While appreciating the leaders of different organisations, he emphasised the need to have one federal organisation which can represent Manipur as a whole.
The Governor said that students studying outside the State are the real ambassadors of the State and its culture and stressed that one should have a profession for earning livelihood and social work should not be considered as a profession.
Students who are doing research work should focus on social issues pertaining to their own State rather than merely selecting a topic for the research work, he said, adding that research work should be made applicable to the society.
The Governor further encouraged the youth who are empowered with knowledge to work for strengthening the State and the country.
Students, when they come out of universities/colleges, should not only be employable but should also become job givers.
The North East is blessed with natural resources which need to be properly tapped to make the State and country economically strong, he added.
The participants were asked to organise meetings/functions once in every three months wherein local people from Delhi are invited to get to know each other and also to build up a fellowship among the members.
"We should change our mind-set to make our State and country economically developed and peaceful," the Governor said.
The meeting was attended by Deputy Resident Commissioner of Manipur Bhavan, New Delhi, Ngathingshim (MCS) .
