CADA organises COVID-19 awareness programme

Coalition Against Drugs and Alcohol (CADA) organised a COVID-19 awareness programme at Tangkham Kalika Shanglen in Imphal East, district today as a part of its continuous effort to spread awareness to reduce stigmatization of Covid -19 recovered patients and frontline warriors and also to curb the spread of the virus.
The programme was jointly organised by Apunba Manipur, Kanba ima Lup (AMKIL), Tangkham Awang Leikai Women Association and CADA, said a statement of the secretary information and publicity, CADA.
Hijam Priyokumar, president CADA; Ngasepam Ibemnungsi, senior Meira Paibi member; Khangembam Anandi, advisor AMKIL and RK Bino, vice-president AMKIL took part in the programme as presidium members.
Ningthoujam Doren, vice-president CADA and Geetchandra Mangang, secretary general CADA also attended the programme as resource persons, it added.
Ningthoujam Doren said that COVID-19 cases are increasing all over the world.
Considering the population ratio, the percentage of positive cases is higher in Manipur than some bigger States of India.
It is rather unfortunate that even with the increasing cases of COVID-19 in the State, some people are still not following the protection guidelines, he added.
A similar programme was also held yesterday at Keirao Maibam Lampak in imphal East district Organised by CADA Imphal East District Committee and Youth Development Centre Club.
It was attended by Hijam Priyokumar, president CADA; Mutum Manglemba, president Youth Development Centre Club and Ningthoujam (O) Memchoubi, president CADA Imphal East district committee as presidium members.
Geetchandra Mangang, secretary' general CADA also attended the programme as a resource person.
Geetchandra Mangang stated that when the time comes, the frontline workers will be vaccinated first.
He also urged everyone to wear face masks, maintain social distancing and follow other SQPs as mandated by the State Government.
Face masks were distributed before the start of the programme and SOPs were followed strictly throughout the programme.
