Imphal, November 14 2017:
People would certainly find it rather absurd that Congress party has been trying to indict B JP which came into existence in the State very recently with regard to the issue ofNaga integration but it was Congress party which gave their consent to Naga integration, asserted Chief Minister N Biren.
He was speaking at a reception function of newly elected Zilla Parishad Members, Pradhans and Ward Members at the Nityaipat Chuthek office of BJP Manipur Pradesh.
It was the Congress party which ruled India for the past 70 years.
Since 1972 starting from the time of Indira Gandhi and Manmohan Singh and Chidambaram, the issue of Naga integration was there even though NSCN-IM was demanding complete independence, Biren stated.
It was Congress party which offered greater Nagaland to NSCN-IM.
Congress party even signed an undertaking with the Naga Integration Council which declared that Congress would not object to Naga integration for it is neither anti-party nor unconstitutional.
"When we were in Congress party, we insisted repeatedly to hold a convention and rectify this blunder but those who mattered did not pay any heed.
That was one reason why we parted ways with Congress party", Biren asserted.
Congress leaders should take care of these points before hurling allegations against BJP with regard to the issue ofNaga integration, he advised.
Asking Congress party not to take people as fools and forget the legacy of living together for centuries, the Chief Minister accused the Congress party of polarising and creating conflicts among different communities of the State.
If Congress party is committed to the idea of a united Manipur, it should act accordingly just as BJP has been doing.
Congress party may wait and see what changes BJP brings to the hill and rural areas of Manipur by March next year.
There would be mutual love only when there is uniform development.
It would be far more productive if all political parties join hands and work together rather than politicising the Framework Agreement uncannily.
Asking what was the Congress party doing for two years after the Framework Agreement was signed, Biren advised all concerned to practise good politics.
"If the common homeland should be saved, we must unite.
BJP has opened many barriers with the message of love and harmony.
The Congress Government and their own MLAs could not visit Ukhrul, Chandel, Senapati and Churachandpur two years back", Biren said.
Now they are saying that there should not be two separate administrations for the hills and the valley.
Asking who fragmented the State into multiple divisions internally, Biren claimed it is BJP which brought the fragmented communities.
Those people who first gave consent to Naga integration in their interest of their own party must first apologise to the people.
If the Congress party and the AICC general secretary hold a press conference and publicly admit that they had committed a folly, BJP Manipur Pradesh would serve them in whatever way they desire, Biren said.
"If they dare, they may hold dhamas at Ukhrul or Mao but we (BJP) are visiting these places with a message of brotherhood and reconciliation", Biren said.
The idea of Imphal Evening has been already emulated by Assam and the State Government is considering to introduce the same recreation hours along the bank of Leishang Hiden (Canchipur) .
"While tackling and working for National issues, we are spoiling education of our children.
Let those dedicated to National issues may focus their time and energy on these issues but we need a vision for education and industry", the Chief Minister added.
BJP Manipur Pradesh president K Bhabananda said that BJP has won majority in all the six Zilla Parishads of the six valley districts and this is an indubitable indication of people's trust in the party.
It also foretells BJP's victory in the Lok Sabha election of 2019, he claimed.
