Imphal, March 14 2016:
The Khongjom War Memorial Trust has urged the Government to fulfil what was agreed between the Government and the trust.
Speaking to media persons at Manipur Press Club this morning, Khongjom War Memorial Trust president Moirangthem Hemanta said that the trust and the Government agreed to install a huge symbolic sword at the Khongjom War Memorial complex.
The agreement was based on the understanding that the martial prowess of Manipuri people should be told to the future generations through the symbolic sword and the tales of Khongjom War.
Rather than installing a symbolic sword as mutually agreed, the Government has been working to erect three giant pillars at the memorial complex, Hemanta said.
If the Government is unwilling to fulfil what was agreed, the trust would take the onus of installing a huge symbolic sword at the war memorial complex, he added.
With a view to expand Khongjom War Memorial Complex, the Government has evicted seven households.
The SDO concerned issued the eviction notice on March 8 and the seven families were evicted on March 11.The time given to the hapless families to shift from their homes was too short, Hemanta decried.
