The Governor of Manipur, V Shanmuganathan, CM O Ibobi Singh and others have greeted the people of Manipur, specially the Naga community on the joyous occasion of Lui-Ngai-Ni festival.
In a message, the Governor said that all the people in Manipur belonging to Naga communities celebrate Lui-Ngai-Ni on February 15 every year for a bountiful and bumper harvest.
It is a festival of thanksgiving and people seek the blessings of the Almighty for a prosperous life.
Apart from the deeply rooted traditional and customary practices associated with this festival, it has also now gained popularity as a tourist festival, where all communities come together, rising above their differences to join the festivities.
CM Okram Ibobi in his message said that the festival is celebrated with rich cultural heritage, where the blessings of the supreme deity is besought on the seeds sown so that they grow to bear fruits for a bountiful harvest.
He wished the festival brings prosperity and strengthens the bond of oneness and brotherhood among all the people belonging to various communities living in the State.
Maj Gen SS Mishra, VSM, GOC, Red Shield Division extended his warm wishes to the people of Manipur, on the joyous occasion of Lui-Ngai-Ni, the seed sowing festival of Naga community.
The festival assumes much significance as it not only occupies a unique position among the Nagas, but also among the people in the North-East as it appeals for peaceful coexistence, and at the same time spreads the message of "live and let live" breaking of barriers, caste, creed and religion in the society.
Conveying his greetings, the GOC wished everyone for better yield of seasonal crops and for celebration in its true spirit of oneness and brotherhood.
He further appealed for unity and peaceful coexistence amongst the different communities in the State.
Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Kisan Morcha, Manipur Pradesh has conveyed warm greetings to the people of Manipur especially the Naga brethren on the auspicious occasion of Lui-Ngai-Ni festival and hope that the festival will usher in peace, love and greater bonding among different communities of the State.
CPI (M-L) Liberation, Manipur State Committee has also conveyed its heartfelt greeting to the people of Manipur, especially the Nagas on the occasion of Lui-Ngai-Ni festival and pray that the festival brings peace and strengthen the bond of brotherhood amongst different communities of the State.
