Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas (JNV) approved

The Ministry of Human Resource Development has given its approval to open two Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas (JNVs) at Kangpokpi and Jeesami.
On the other hand, the Central Advisory Board of Education has deliberated on extending Right to Education up to secondary level.
Talking with TSE, Education Minister M Okendro said that HRD officials have agreed to open JNVs at Kangpokpi and Jessami.
Minister Okendro who is currently putting up at New Delhi said that the two JNVs would be set up very soon.
Apart from the JNVs, the Ministry has given its consent to open two Kendriya Vidyalayas in Thoubal district.
Meanwhile, a meeting of the Central Advisory Board of Education sub-committee was held yesterday where it was deliberated to make Right to Education applicable up to secondary level.
At present Right to Education is applicable only up to elementary level.
The sub-committee also sought comments and opinions of experts on the matter.
It is reported that Minister Okendro is a member of the sub-committee.
