Imphal, July 13 2019:
Stating there are abundant quantities of fuel including LPG in stock, CAF&PD Minister Karam Shyam has appealed to all the people not to indulge in panic buying.
Speaking to media persons at Chajing Mairenkhong today, Karam Shyam said that the State Government has talked with the transporters' union engaged in transporting petroleum products along Imphal-Dimapur highway regarding the woes they have been facing on the highway.
It has been already considered to send oil tankers and LPG bullet TTs on Imphal-Silchar highway along with security escorts from Monday.
IOCL has also been asked if they are ready to bear extra transport expenses that would be incurred in transporting petroleum products along Imphal-Silchar highway.
The Government would not tolerate hoarding fuels in such situation.
Officials concerned have been instructed to take up befitting action including cancellation of licence against retail outlets which do not provide fuel when they have fuel in their tanks, Shyam conveyed.
Notably, over 200 loaded tankers are currently stranded at Khatkhati since oil tanker and LPG bullet drivers launched a cease work strike demanding an alternative route to Imphal-Dimapur highway.
Tanker drivers have refused to take the Imphal-Dimapur stretch of the highway.
