Imphal, June 13 2013:
Referring to use of unfair means by a student during the 6th Semester examination in Paper-IX (Accounting Information System) at Biramangol College, Sawombung centre, Manipur Students' Federation (MSF) said non-cooperation by the accused students as well as some teaching staff members suggests failure of Manipur University authorities to streamline the examination system.
speaking to newspersons at its Keishampat office today, MSF vice president Khullakpam Serajuddin claimed that on June 8 Biramangol College student namely Takhelmayum Dinesh Singh s/o T Kumar of Kongpal Chingangbam Leikai was caught red-handed by MSF volunteers using unfair means in the Paper-XI examination.
Highlighting that multiple pages of prepared answers and exact replica of questions were recovered from the possession of Dinesh, the MSF functionary said attempt to contact the accused student as well as some of the teachers suspected to be aiding Dinesh failed to evoke positive response thereby hampering effort to trace source of the exam anomalies.
Speculating that parents/guardians of Dinesh might be hiding the accused student, he also informed that some of the teachers have switched off their mobile phones despite initial assurance to extend cooperation in probing the matter.
Asking Dinesh to be present at the MSF office within two days, Serajuddin expressed serious concern that MU authorities continue to ignore importance of addressing exam-related anomalies.
Not ruling out possibility of question leakage in the MU-conducted semester examination, he demanded that Paper-IX examination be ruled as null and void.
