House of Lakhamai Secy gutted in fire

Imphal, December 12 2012:
A house belonged to P.S Lot, who is the secretary of Lakhamai village of Purul sub division under Tadubi police station was engulfed by fire on Monday night, according to a delayed report.
The source said all the important documents including electoral rolls of the villagers, certificates and other village authority related important documents were consumed by fire.
The property worth lost in the incident is estimated at Rs 15 lakh.
Meanwhile, a huge fire burned a rented house in Mercy-lane, Mantripukhri in Imphal West this afternoon destroying properties worth lakhs of rupees.
The fire, which broke around 1:30 pm at the two-story house belonging to one Tejprakash, 38, burned five rented rooms in flames.
But, none was wounded in the blaze as all the occupants including the family of the owner escaped timely when it started.
It was reported that the cause of the fire might be a burning candle at the pujah room of Tejprakash.
The house has 10 rented rooms.
A fire tender from Imphal Fire Service put out the raging fire in the late afternoon.
The firefighters managed to save almost all the rooms on the ground floor but five rooms on the second floor were completely gutted by the blaze.
