Imphal, June 12 2021:
The People Action for National Democratic Movement (PANDM) has urged the State Government and authority concerned to take befitting action against the two non-locals who were pulled up by the State police in connection with the alleged disappearance of an 11-year old girl on June 10, 2021 .
A press release issued by PANDM said that the minor is currently staying on rent at Nagamapal Kangjabi Leirak with her parents.
She is daughter of Lamabam Shyamsunder and Romila Devi of Ngaikhong Khullen, Bishnupur.
The girl was rescued from Nagamapal Kangjabi Leirak, the following day.
She was found inside a Bolero parked near a club at Kangjabi Leirak.
Charging that the two accused is undeniably guilty, either in sexual abuse or organ trafficking cases, PANDAM said that legal actions should be taken up against the duo under POCSO Act.
It also appealed to the victim and her family to cooperate with the police for the law to take its course of actions.
The PANDM then urged the State Government to arrest others involved in the case, such as the driver and owner of the vehicle and the tenant.
Saying that this is not the first time that non locals have committed crimes in the State, PANDM contended many non locals continue to enter the State easily despite the implementation of Inner Line Permit System (ILPS) .
Such crimes are reported occasionally as many of the landlords are not aware of the history and details of non-local residents staying in their buildings and the State Government not enforcing ILPS effectively.
People are still aware that ILPS was implemented in the State after much blood and sweat to safeguard the indigenes, said PANDM and added that the State Government, however, is not able to enforce the same to its potential.
