Imphal, March 12 2025:
Principal Secretary of Forest, Environment & Climate Change Arun Kumar Sinha has urged the people to be more mindful of their actions and avoid raising the noise pollution.
Addressing a one day training programme organised for police personnel and District Administration Officers on "Ambient Noise Level Monitoring" at Classic Grande, Chingmeirong as chief guest today, Arun Kumar Sinha emphasized that all forms of pollution have severe consequences, harming both human health and the environment.
Saying that noise pollution is often caused by modified silencers on vehicles and loudspeakers and sound systems used during festivals and celebrations, he added that these activities contribute to excessive noise levels, disturbing the environment and human well-being.
He appealed to the people to recognize the impact of noise pollution on the environment and 'our well-being.' Saying that making police aware about ambient noise level monitoring is essential to hold noise polluters accountable, he added that authorities should refrain from granting permission for the use of loudspeakers that generate excessive sound, contributing to noise pollution.
The programme organised by Manipur Pollution Control Board (MPCB) was also attended by Director of Environment & Climate Change Dr T Brajakumar and MPCB Member Secretary Dr W Roshan as presidium members.
