Nupi Lan Guv, CM greet, decks cleared for day

Imphal, December 11 2017: Governor Dr Najma Heptulla has conveyed her warm greetings to the people of Manipur, specially the brave mothers of the State, on the auspicious occasion of Nupi Lan .

Lauding the courage, responsibility and sacrificial spirit of the brave women who fought in the Nupi Lan against the policies of colonial rule, she stated that the women deserve appreciation of the highest order .

Urging the people to join hands and fight against all evils and vicious crimes in the society including atrocities against women and children in the State, the Governor further wished for a grand success of Nupi Lan celebration .

Chief Minister N Biren Singh also greeted the Manipuri women on the auspicious occasion of Nupi Lan .

He stated that Nupi Lan is an unforgettable and one of the most important movements of womenfolk of Manipur in which Manipuri women exhibited to the world that they have the courage and spirit to challenge the British and any wrongdoings by the authority and once again wished the people of the State on the occasion of Nupi Lan .

Works Minister, Th Biswajit, has also greeted the people of the State on the auspicious occasion of Nupi Lan observation .

He also conveyed that Nupi Lan occupies an important place in Manipur's history and added that the Imas of the State have never shied away from standing up against any form of suppression and oppression .

On the other hand, decks have been cleared for the State Government to organise Nupi Lan Day tomorrow, at 9 am, at Nupi Lan Memorial Complex, Imphal, reports DIPR .

Chief Minister N Biren Sing and Agriculture Minister V Hangkhanlian will grace the function as the chief guest and president respectively.

Along with floral tributes to the departed freedom fighters of Nupi Lan movement will mark the observation and artistes of Shri Shri Bal Mukunda Dev Government Music College, Imphal will present the opening and the closing songs.

Joint Artistes of Nupi Lan Memorial Association and Nupi Lan and Khongjom War Memorial Society will also present Nupi Lan Drama as a part of the occasion.

The State Government has invited all to attend the function on time.
