Imphal, December 11 2015 : Three persons involved in extortion were arrested by a team of AR personnel on December 11 .

According to a reliable source, NSCN (K) cadre MB Charanga made an extortion demand to one Ranjeet Singh, a wholesale supplier of Pallel through a middleman Koijam Dinesh Singh, owner of Mukta Pharmacy, Pallel.

A team of AR personnel launched a search operation to arrest MB Charanga and his men.

However, a scuffle broke out between the AR personnel and MB Charanga which subsequently led to firing of bullets.

One AR personnel and a 12-year-old boy identified as Alvi sustained bullet injury in the incident.

The source further said that three persons involved in the extortion case including MB Charanga were arrested by the AR team.

Meanwhile, a team of Imphal East district police commandos conducted cordon and search operation based on a reliable information at some suspected houses of Itam Nungoi Khunou area.

During the operation, one active member of KCP (Paikhomba) identified as Laishram Binoy Singh alias Inao (33) s/o L Koba Singh of Itam Nungoi Khunou was arrested from his residence.

Investigation revealed that he is the public relation officer of the said organisation and he was involved in extortion from Government offices including Manipur University and RIMS.

A case has been registered at Lamlai police station and investigation is going on, according to the PRO of police department.
