Medical equipment gifted to ENT Dept, District Hospital Thoubal

Thoubal, September 11 2024: The Administrative Committee Members Thoubal Zilla Parishad/Gram Panchayat donated valuable and essential medical equipment to the ENT Department of District Hospital Thoubal through Thoubal Deputy Commissioner Ahanthem Subhash today.

The donated equipment are Sinuscope 4mm Odeg 175mm, Sinuscope 4mm 70deg 175mm, HD Endoscope Camera, Rigid Oesophagoscope, Foreign Body (Coin) Forceps, Suction Tip SS, Hypopharyngoscope, Endoscopy LED Light Source 100 Watt and Fiber Optic Cable 4.5 mm 2.3 mtr.

The gifting ceremony was organised by District Administration Thoubal at the conference hall of Deputy Commissioner Thoubal today in the presence of Administrative Committee Members Thoubal Zilla Parishad/ Gram Panchayat representatives.

On the occasion, Committee chairperson Kh Sobha handed over nine essential medical equipment for the ENT Department of District Hospital Thoubal to the Thoubal DC.

Speaking in this connection, DC Ahanthem Subhash shared that the Administrative Committee made the donation today after they were informed about the lack of essential medical equipment in treating patients at the district hospital alongwith an appeal for any form of assistance.

Stating that the new equipment will be an invaluable asset to the ENT Department, he continued to add that citizens of Thoubal district will no longer have to travel long distance to RIMS Hospital, Imphal or JNIMS, Porompat when faced with simple issues such as treatment for fish bone stuck in the throat.

Maintaining that District Hospital Thoubal is one of the best performing hospitals in the State, he said that on some days more than 1000 patients are treated by the Out Patient Department (OPD).

The Thoubal DC also urged generous individuals to make similar donations in the future while reasoning that plugging the shortage of medical equipment and tools is the only way to ensure that the people of Thoubal receive treatment for their ailments at the district hospital itself and not be compelled to travel distances to other hospitals.

Additionally, he appealed to the doctors and other staff of the hospital to dedicate themselves to serving their patients with a sacrificial spirit.

Adding that this is the third time medical equipment have been gifted to District Hospital Thoubal, he informed that the Manipur State Co-operative Bank and HDFC Bank made similar donations in the past.

The ceremony was graced by Dr Y Nokul, Chief Medical Officer, Thoubal; Arvind Hanglem IAS, Assistant Commissioner Thoubal; W Ruhinikumar, Medical Superintendent, District Hospital Thoubal and Dr Pinky, ENT Department, District Hospital Thoubal.
