Imphal, December 10 2024:
The Manipur State Council Communist Party of India (MSC/CPI) staged a demonstration at Irawat Bhawan Complex, Roopmahal Tank today against the misgovemance of the Narendra Modi led NDA Government.
The protest was staged in observation of the nation-wide Protest and Demands Day.
The protestors wielded placards which read "End Manipur conflict", "Protect the rights of common people", "Withdraw AFSPA from Manipur immediately", "Discuss the Manipur crisis in the Parliament", "Solve price rise and unemployment" and "Investigate Adani Group scam by JPC".
Speaking by the sideline of the protest, L Sotinkumar, former State secretary, MSC/CPI stated that despite International Human Rights Day being celebrated since 1948, violation of human rights continues to occur, he remarked.
Since the eruption of violence on May 3, 2023, Manipur has witnessed many spine-chilling incidents.
This poses significant risk of spiralling into a major war and compromising the territorial integrity of the State, he asserted.
Stating that various political parties and CSOs of the State continue to air their grievances in Delhi in the face of the Prime Minister's silence, he added that MSC/CPI is also prepared to launch agitations against the recent reimposition of AFSPA in the areas of six police stations.
