Left Parties including CPI, CPI (M), Forward Block, RSP and CPI (ML) Liberation staged a sit in protest at Irawat Bhawan today in connection with the 7 days protest launched by Left Parties across the country based on the resolution adopted by Left Parties at the Constituent Club New Delhi on September 20 condemning the Central Government's negligence of the poor people.
Speaking to media persons on the sideline of the protest, CPI Manipur State Council secretary L Sotinkumar said that today, the Government is making the rich even richer while the poor are being made even poorer.

One September 20, condemning such acts of the Government, the left parties resolved to launch a protest from today till October 16 all across the country.
Based on the resolution, the protest was also observed in the State, he said.
Sotinkumar alleged that instead of trying to ease the suffering of the common people, the Government appeased only a few rich elites and even recently, the Finance Ministry handed over around Rs 70,000 crore to these rich people.
He also accused the present Government of attempting to tear down the Constitution and instal a Hindu Rashtra.
He then demanded an increase in public investment budget to increase employment rate.
Further demanding Rs 18,000 per month as minimum wages, he also urged the Government to make necessary arrangements to ensure monthly living wage for the pensioners as well.
Sotinkumar demanded revoking the 100 percent FDI rate in defence and coal sector and urged against widespread privatization of various public sector undertakings, increase in the budget for Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Generation and to pay off the pending dues and provide no less than 200 days of employment per year.
He also demanded the Government to waive the loan of the farmers and to take up steps to increase the income and productivity of the farmers, to increase the pension given to the widows to Rs 3000 per month.
On the other hand, the CPI Manipur State Council secretary cautioned against any attempt to pass CAB as well as any impact to the integrity of Manipur due to the Naga peace talks.
