Imphal, September 10 2021:
MPCC vice president and former Minister Dr Kh Ratankumar has reacted sharply to the statement made by Education Minister S Rajen that no developmental works were taken up in Mayang Imphal AC during the 15 years long Congress tenure.
Dr Kh Ratankumar said this at a press conference held today at Congress Bhawan organised by Mayang Imphal Block Congress Committee and added that the statement made by Minister S Rajen at the inaugural function of an agro market complex in Mayang Imphal was baseless and not based on any facts and figures.
It is very unfortunate that a Minister would make such a statement, he added.
The agro market complex which was inaugurated yesterday was constructed under a project which was approved in 2014-15 during his tenure and a fund of Rs 9 crore was already sanctioned, however the Minister had said the cost of the project was just 6 crore, he told the media.

A 5 acre site for DIET Imphal West was already earmarked at Mayang Imphal Charoibung as it was stipulated that the current DIET centre inside DM College (now DM University) might have to be shifted once the college was upgraded to the status of an university.
The unfortunate thing, however, is that the present Education Minister is claiming that there is no document regarding the site earmark for DIET Imphal West at Charoibung and had also stated that he will send a proposal for opening DIET Imphal West at a different site, Dr Kh Ratankumar told the media.
He also questioned the motive behind the proposal to shift the site as establishing the DIET Imphal West at the site already earmarked would be less time consuming against making a new proposal.
The former Minister also hit out at Deputy Speaker K Robindro, who is also representing Mayang Imphal AC if he will remain a silent spectator to the false claims made in front of him by the Education Minister and was trying to move away the DIET centre from Mayang Imphal to some other places.
He also alleged that most of the projects initiated during the tenure of Congress were left as it is including many water supply projects, district hospitals etc.
'He is not qualified to be the Education Minister', Dr Kh Ratankumar said about Minister S Rajen.
