UPF calls to shun communalism

Imphal, December 09 2008: United People's Front (UPF) president YK Dhiren has appealed to all the communities in Manipur to do away with the feeling of communalism so as to bring about peace and development among all the people living in Manipuri society since time immemorial.

Speaking at the occasion of a function held in connection with Id-ul-Zuha celebration at Phoubakchao today as chief guest, YK Dhiren observed that Manipuri society has been passing through a very critical stage today where every communities think and work only for itself thus giving an opportunity to the outside divisive forces to drive wedge among the people.

Organised jointly by UPF, Phoubakchao Zonal Council and Phoubakchao Young Muslim Development Association, the function was presided over by Pradhan of Phoubakchao Gram Panchayat md Junamuddin.

Headmaster of Phoubakchao Primary School A Tiken and publicity secretary of UPF N Rupachandra were also present at the occasion as guests of honour.

As part of the observance, UPF president YK Dhiren presented gifts to the Muslim elders.

Afterward, all the people partook the lunch arranged for the occasion.
