Killing of Moirangthem (O) Rasheshwori decried

Imphal, July 09 2011: Decrying the murder of Moirangthem Ongbi Rasheshwori of Sheijang Mayai Leikai and demanding proper investigation into the killing so as to find out the real killers, a sit-in-protest demonstration was staged at the bus waiting shed of Singjamei Chingamakhong today.

Organised jointly by SAATHI, MNP+, WAD, UNICAM, AMWN+, CDS and CNPWM, the protest demonstration was held from 9 am to 3 pm.

A mother of two children, Rasheshwori was HIV positive.

Talking to mediapersons on the sideline of the protest demonstration, secretary of WAD Sobita observed that killing of HIV positive people deserved strong condemnation.

Rasheshwori was the second victim after German who have been killed on account of their HIV status.

Such killings would discourage other HIV positive patients to come out and reveal their status to others, and it would have serious implication in the society.

So, the Government should take up necessary measures to ensure such killings do not recur.
